Summary
The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and commissioning automation and control systems for pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications. This role requires hands-on experience with PLC/HMI systems, system integration, and onsite troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop control systems using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and related technologies.
- Implement and debug automation solutions for process equipment and integrated systems.
- Develop and maintain software applications (C#, SQL, HMI/SCADA interfaces).
- Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, OPC).
- Support system integration, FAT, SAT, and onsite commissioning activities.
- Diagnose and resolve system issues (hardware, software, network, instrumentation).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (process engineers, mechanical, and customers).
- Contribute to R&D and continuous improvement of automation platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanics, or a related field.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills with both technical teams and customers.
- Willingness to travel for onsite support (as required).
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation or process control systems.
- Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial networking.
- Programming experience in C#, JavaScript, SQL, or similar languages.
- Experience with PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens preferred).
