AYER & MARLBOROUGH – Main Street Bank is pleased to announce the promotion of Ruth Cavanagh to Senior Vice President Chief Lending Officer, effective on April 5, 2021.
In this role, she will be overseeing all aspects of lending at Main Street Bank, including both commercial and retail lending.
Ruth joined the bank in 2012 and has over 25 years of experience in commercial lending and began her banking career in 1981 on the retail side of the business. A graduate of the University of Lowell and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, she has critical experience in loan workouts, construction lending, Small Business Association (SBA) loans, and has served as the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) officer. This breadth of knowledge will serve her well as she assumes her newest role.
Ruth is stepping into her new role with enthusiasm. “The whole landscape of banking is changing, and I’m excited to be part of the evolution on the lending side. Our goal is to constantly streamline our loan processes, while delivering on the extreme value of personalized service.”

Ruth is an active participant in the community and is a member of the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce, sits on the Finance Committee of Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry in Devens, MA, is a member of the Community Impact Leadership Committee of the United Way of North Central MA, and sits on the Board for the Worcester Economic Club. A native resident of Leominster, MA, Ruth is the mother to two grown sons, and grandmother to two granddaughters with a third expected this July.
