LEOMINSTER HENNA STUDIO WILL OPEN ITS DOORS IN DECEMBER
Small woman-owned business ready to thrive despite pandemic
LEOMINSTER, MA – After more than 14 years as a henna artist, with humble beginnings at Leominster’s various outdoor stroll events and unforeseen growth in the meantime, local artist Mandy Roberge will open the doors Dec. 1 to her own brick-and-mortar Wicked Good Henna Studio. This studio will be the only shop of its kind in Central Massachusetts.
Having traveled across the region to execute henna and craft workshops at public libraries and private parties, the opening of the space is a direct result of the Covid19 health crisis and is an example of small businesses’ need to pivot and strategize to survive the pandemic.
“2019 was a record year for me in terms of sales and success and it felt like it was going to go on that way forever,” said Roberge, who found herself with a calendar wiped completely clean overnight in March as libraries closed and festivals were cancelled. “When people stopped gathering in every way possible, I had to really think about the direction I was going to take with my business. I love what I do and I am not ready to do anything else, but I have always relied on large events.”
The Wicked Good Henna Studio will allow for individuals and small groups to make appointments to get henna in a serene and safe environment, perhaps as part of a self-care routine or just a break from the monotony of life as we currently know it.
Roberge will hold a series of weekend Open Houses, beginning with Leominster’s Winter Stroll on Nov. 28, that will allow visitors to check out the new space and also purchase gift certificates, henna kits, and some of Roberge’s pottery and ceramics.
“I am so excited to connect with my clients again,” added Roberge. “I miss the feeling of making people feel beautiful and adorned.”
Open Houses will take place Nov. 28, Dec. 5, 6 , 12, 13 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Studio is located at 59 Merriam Avenue in Leominster. A Grand Opening ribbon-cutting photo opp will take place Dec. 1 at 2 pm
