Littleton Electric Light Department LINE CLEARANCE TRIMMER I FUNCTION: Perform tasks associated with the ongoing vegetation management activities for the Littleton Electric Light Department. Specifically responsible for tree, brush, and vegetation trimming and clearing to mitigate conflict with overhead electric power lines and structures, along with Rightof-Way maintenance and other miscellaneous trimming. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: • Reports directly to the General Foreman. • Works closely with Line Clearance Trimmer, General Line Foreman, Working Foreman, Lineworkers and Facilities Manager. QUALIFICATIONS: • Possess good reading and math skills, mechanical aptitude and ability to work safely with others. • Must be able to properly use personal safety equipment necessary to perform duties associated with line clearance near a high voltage distribution system (rubber gloves, hardhat, safety glasses, FR clothing, etc.). • Valid Class D Massachusetts driving license or equivalent. • Must obtain a valid class B commercial driver license within six months of employment. • Must obtain a valid 1B Hoisting License within one year of employment. • Must have the ability to perform moderately heavy physical work. Also work outdoors in all seasons, and at times for extended periods. • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. DUTIES: • Clear vegetation by pruning, trimming, repairing, maintaining, or clearing of trees or cutting the brush that is within 10 feet of energized power lines or any other area deemed necessary. • Demonstrate the ability to correctly use chain saws, brush clippers, sprayers, stump cutters, backpack power cutters, climbing ropes and/or safety saddles. • Use insulated tools and equipment to remove branches and limbs that are in contact with, or are within the minimum approach distance from any energized part. • Assist the Facilities Manager as needed. • Maintain a bucket truck, chipper and all department issued equipment to a level deemed satisfactory by a supervisor. Make sure trucks are properly cleaned and ready for operation. • Demonstrates the ability to support the Department with afterhours trouble calls and scheduled overtime. • Learn the streets and circuits associated with the LELD electrical system. • Learn and comply with all company safety policies and procedures. • Must interface and communicate with all company personnel, the public, and governmental personnel in a respectful, polite, professional and courteous manner. • Undertake any and all activities the General Manager or his designated Supervisor feel are necessary to meet the best interest of the Department. ANNUAL STIPEND: Line Clearance Trimmer I and II shall be eligible to receive an annual stipend in the amount of $1,500 per certification and/or license held for a maximum of $3,000. Eligible certifications and licenses are listed below: 1. Massachusetts Certified Arborist (MCA) or International Society of Arborists (ISA) 2. Massachusetts Pesticide Spray License The employee must present copies of these certifications and licenses to the Department on an annual basis in order to be eligible to receive the stipend.
