JOB DESCRIPTION:
Commercial packing house seeking to fill the production supervisor position to assist in overseeing the apple packing line.
COMPENSATION:
$23 - $25 per hour
LOCATION:
On-site, Ayer, MA USA
POSITION REPORTS TO:
Operations Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
· Supervise production workers and line leads to ensure efficient, accurate, and quality production
· Assist in maintaining accurate finish pack inventories by working with Stack Lead and Operations Manager
· Coordinate/implement packing schedule and setup with Operations Manager
· Ability to learn to operate packing equipment, including color/defect sorting cameras, NIR equipment, computers, sizers, labelers, bin fillers and any other belts, conveyors and equipment used in the packaging of apples.
· Train others as required to operate packing equipment at a basic level.
· Maintain established quality program, including customer and USDA specifications regarding finished products
· Identify areas of improvement throughout the packing line and facility in general.
· Maintain high level of cleanliness and housekeeping while keeping the requirements of the Food Safety Plan in mind
· Ensure facility meets all food safety and HACCP requirements and maintains OSHA compliance
· Maintain sufficient supplies of packaging materials
COMPETENCIES:
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills (ability to speak Spanish a plus)
· Demonstrated attention to detail and follow-through in all areas of responsibility
· Ability to develop and coordinate project plans, communicate changes and progress, and complete projects on time and within budget
· Computer literacy, with ability to utilize Microsoft Office and internet-based application
· Able to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment
· Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Able to safely use a ladder, other tools and equipment
SCHEDULE:
In person, Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 pm / half-day on some Saturdays during peak packing season.
Reduced hours during non-packing season (late Spring – Summer).
