The Town of Acton’s Council on Aging is seeking a part-time Kitchen Coordinator to oversee the daily operation and coordination of the kitchen and dining room at 30 Sudbury Road. Working up to 10 hours per week, this position plays a key role in supporting our senior nutrition and programming efforts, including Bistro 30, special monthly lunches, breakfasts and dinners, Minuteman Senior Services meal programs, and special events. This is a grant-funded position and is subject to the availability of continued grant funding.
 
General Duties and Responsibilities: The Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operation and coordination of the kitchen and dining room to ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment for all users. This includes coordinating with volunteers, Minuteman Senior Services Dining Room staff, Bistro 30 contracted personnel, and other kitchen users to ensure proper procedures are followed. The position is responsible for purchasing food and supplies as needed, maintaining inventory, and ensuring that all kitchen equipment, dishes, utensils, and surfaces are properly cleaned and sanitized. The Kitchen Coordinator monitors food safety practices including proper storage, food rotation (FIFO), and checking expiration dates. The role also provides support for special events and programs and performs other related duties as assigned by the Council on Aging Director.
 
Minimum Entrance Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years’ experience in Nutrition, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position also requires proficiency with basic computer applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet navigation.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, reliability, flexibility, and a customer-service-oriented approach, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and partner organizations.
 
Special Requirements: ServSafe Certification. CPR and Massachusetts Allergen Awareness Certification required within six (2) months of hire. Valid Driver’s License. Must pass a CORI check.
 
Pay Rate: $25.00/hr. This position is funded through a formula grant.
