Job Description

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assists in the daily planning of shop projects and related instruction.
•Monitors the activities of students.
•Shares industry experience with students and staff.
•Monitors students in completing shop tasks while helping them to develop an attitude of personal and professional excellence.
•Assists in the maintenance of individual student records.
•Helps maintain discipline under classroom guidelines.
•Assists the vocational technical instructors in maintaining a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
•Assists the vocational technical instructors in breaking down CTE competencies, tasks, and projects for diverse learners.
•Will work with the vocational technical instructors in the specified vocational area and follow the lesson plan provided to them.
•Will follow all safety regulations per shop concerning Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
•May be asked to transport students to and from job sites using school-provided transportation.
•Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent-Director.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The individual may spend several hours per day sitting at a desk. Other activities include standing, talking, and listening in shop environments. The individual may be exposed to blue light from office equipment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten-month school-year position (183 days).
Fringe benefits as outlined in the Non-Union Contract.

Job Requirements

  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    1.Experience in the workplace in at least one of Monty Tech’s 21 Chapter 74 vocational training programs.
    2.Candidate should be motivated to begin the process towards teacher certification; however, certification is not a requirement for the position.
    3.Characteristics, which clearly incorporate a team concept and indicate the ability to relate positively to high school students and colleagues.
    4.Knowledge of shop safety, hand tools, power tools, and equipment for the specified shop area is required.
    5.The candidate must be able to inspire excellence and prepare the students for social responsibility, employment, and postsecondary education in order to effectively meet our mission with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
    6.Some knowledge of computers or willing to learn.
    7.Must have a valid driver’s license.
    8.Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
    9.May have such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent-Director deems appropriate and acceptable.

    Director of Vocational Programs

    JOB GOAL:
    Candidate will assist Chapter 74 approved instructors in the shop area during the instructors’ prep period or during related theory coverage periods. Familiarity with the competencies and skills required of students in specific vocational-technical areas is essential. The candidate will have an understanding of curriculum development, students’ learning styles, and possess the ability to work with all students in assisting the technical instructor in delivering quality programming to prepare the students to meet the demands of the modern workplace.
  • At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • High School/Trade School degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
