Savoy Brown featuring Kim Simmonds
12-15-2017 - New CD, just out.
One of the earliest of British blues bands, SAVOY BROWN (with founder guitarist Kim Simmonds at the helm) helped launch the UK blues/rock movement that paved the way for such acts as Led Zeppelin, becoming part of the framework that launched the rock and roll music of the 1970’s. Their influence now stretches into modern rock as we know it today. In 1967 they opened for CREAM's first London gig. In 1969 Kim jammed onstage in London with Jimi Hendrix and Eric Burdon.
Savoy Brown have released 38 albums. Ex-members of Savoy Brown have also been members of other rock & blues acts like Fleetwood Mac, Robert Cray Band, Black Sabbath, Humble Pie, U.F.O., Chicken Shack, Ten Years After & Foghat. Kim was recently inducted into Hollywood's Rock Walk of Fame.
With 5 decades behind them, they are one of the longest, continuously running Blues/Rock bands in the world today.
Savoy Brown's new CD, "Witchy Feelin'" proves once again that Blues is not for the faint hearted. One their best records of the last two decades, Witchy Feelin’ proves that the Devil still has all the best tunes. From the thrillingly brittle guitar riff that opens Why Did You Hoodoo Me, we are in the hands of a master, with Simmonds reigniting the seismic vocals and searing fretwork that established Savoy Brown as linchpins of the ’60s British blues boom. Kim says of Witchy Feelin' "I’ve never been a believer in holding on to the past – I don’t look over my shoulder and congratulate myself. I always want to climb the next mountain – and I’m very pleased with this new album…”
"Make no mistake about it: Simmonds isn't just up on his game, he gets better and better with age."---Michael Lisi - Gazette Reporter
