Harvard General Store’s Brew-haha #2
Saturday, April 28, from 5-7pm.
Are you a home brewer? Would you like feedback from some of Massachusetts' best craft brewers? Interested in learning more about how to brew your own beer?
The HGS Brew-haha #2 will be a fun and open exchange among professional brewers, home brewers, aspiring home brewers, and people just interested in the art of drinking beer.
The event will consist of a beer tasting for the general public, a home brewers competition, and educational and informational sessions for would-be brewers. Several commercial breweries and their brew masters are attending. They will conduct the tasting for the general public, respond to questions from home brewers, and act as judges for the competition.
While the event will be open to the public, the informal, unsanctioned competition is for local home brewers only, and will generally follow the competition handbook prescribed by the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). The competition (prizes: bragging rights and a Brew Ribbon) will be a great opportunity for local home brewers to get advice, criticism, and kudos on their product. The style for the competition is an American Pale Ale; click here for the BJCP Beer Style Guidelines handbook, then scroll down to p. 47, Item 18B for specific American Pale Ale guidelines.
All home brewers wishing to submit an entry for judging should email Dominique at the Harvard General Store for competition rules and requirements. The competition is free for entrants and is limited to 12 competitors, with preference given to Harvard residents. Admission to the event is $10 for the general public. Tasting cups and table space will be provided.
Please watch HGS emails and social media for more information about food, entertainment, and participating commercial breweries as we firm up the details. We look forward to seeing you at the Brew-haha!
