FREE Family Aquatic Insect Exploration Fredonian Park, Fredonian Street in Shirley MA Wednesday, July 10th at 6:30 p.m. This fun program is designed for participants of all ages. Come discover the amazing creatures that live in freshwater ponds, lakes, streams, and rivers everywhere, including Shirley’s Catacunemaug Brook. Many insects, like dragonflies and damselflies, live part of their life in water as nymphs and emerge in the spring and summer as adult flying insects. Participants will use aquatic nets, collection basins, microscopes, and identification keys to learn about this critically important category of freshwater species. Aquatic insects are used as bio-indicators, so as well as being an essential part of the food web, they can also teach us about the water quality in Shirley! Space is limited; pre-registration is required. Register online today! This free family program, led by the Nashua River Watershed Association, is made possible by a grant from the Bruce J Anderson Foundation. Please feel free to share this enews with others who may be interested. Thank you! ____________________________ www.NashuaRiverWatershed.org |
