Albert Castiglia (pronounced “ka-STEEL-ya”) arrived on the International radar after Buddy Guy's iconic harp-blower, Junior Wells, heard the young bluesman sing and invited him into his solo band for several world tours. He has been named "Best Blues Guitarist" by Miami New Times, the respected alternative music magazine and honored by Roots Music Report with a Top Blues Album of 2011 and 2012. Blues Blast's Kim Derr call it "the best album I've listened to this year".
“It may be a bit premature to crown Albert Castiglia America's newest King of the Blues, but there's little doubt that he at least deserves the title of heir apparent.” - Miami New Times
Ask Castiglia what it takes to become a good Blues player & he’ll say you have to go to the "college of the Blues," Chicago! And that’s where this young guitar slinger spent several years honing his craft and learning from the masters. When he finally returned to his South Florida stomping grounds, he found himself to be an in-demand player with a large fan base. “Playing in Chicago is just like going to college,” Albert says. “It’s the equivalent of going to Harvard to study law. For me it was the greatest educational experience I could have. I went and played and saw what the Blues is really all about and was exposed to many different styles.”
Albert’s new release "Masterpiece" was recorded at MARZ Studio in Nederland, Texas with musician/producer Mike Zito. “Albert Castiglia is pure emotion. He wears his heart on his sleeve and lets his guitar do the talking”, says Zito. Masterpiece is a raw, deeply personal album for Albert who recently lost his grandmother but simultaneously discovered he had a daughter. This significant life altering event was the springboard for Albert to hone his songwriting skills on Masterpiece with nine deeply meaningful original songs.
